Kate Moore
Senior Water Attorney

Kate is Senior Water Attorney for The Freshwater Trust, providing legal analysis and support for various aspects of TFT’s projects. Kate brings nearly 20 years of practicing environmental and natural resource law in the private sector. She spent the last 14 years with a regional northwest law firm where she became partner, and represented a range of clients, including farmers, ranchers, and irrigation districts. Some of her proudest moments in private practice were when, working collaboratively with government agencies and environmental consultants, she helped develop positive outcomes for her clients that simultaneously resulted in environmental benefits. In her early legal experience, Kate prepared background resources on instream water rights for the Columbia Basin Water Transactions Program. Prior to becoming an attorney, Kate worked with a land trust in Colorado’s rapidly developing Eagle Valley. Kate received her Juris Doctor from Lewis & Clark Law School with a Certificate in Natural Resource and Environmental Law, and a B.A. from Middlebury College, where she majored in Environmental Studies with a focus in Conservation Biology. In her free time, Kate enjoys spending time with her husband, two daughters, and two wily but cuddly dogs and exploring and recreating in the beauty of the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
