Wyld About Conservation

April 13, 2023

We recently had the pleasure of sitting down with Wyld, one of our Annual Sponsors, to ask them a few questions about their business and what drew them to partner with The Freshwater Trust.

Can you tell us a little bit about Wyld and what it is you do?

Headquartered in the Pacific Northwest, the Wyld family of brands includes Wyld, the #1 cannabis edibles brand in the US and fastest growing edibles brand in Canada; Wyld CBD, the leading CBD ingestible brand in the US natural grocery market; and Good Tide, a newly launched line of solventless hash rosin gummies in tropical flavors. Wyld was founded in 2016, with Wyld CBD joining the family in 2019. Good Tide is Wyld’s newest venture, established in 2022. Wyld is the first cannabis family of brands to be Climate Neutral Certified and is committed to creating a more sustainable future. Using our Pillars of Commitment as a guide, we work for people and the planet.

We support TFT’s “Quantified Conservation” approach which ensures that actions translate to outcomes.

What drew you to want to partner with TFT?

Environmental Sustainability is one of Wyld’s Pillars of Commitment, and within that pillar, environmental conservation is a main area of focus. We support disruptive organizations who think outside of the box to achieve their desired outcomes and we believe that The Freshwater Trust does just that.

We support TFT’s “Quantified Conservation” approach which ensures that actions translate to outcomes. Wyld was impressed with TFT’s strategy to implement new tools and technologies in order to make smarter watershed management happen faster and on a greater scale. TFT’s water quality management and habitat restoration enable a more resilient future for freshwater and the species that rely on it.

What sets Wyld apart from other businesses in the cannabis space?

Wyld’s commitment to quality, consistent dosing, and sustainability set us apart within the cannabis industry. Our products are made with real-fruit ingredients and use trusted dosing to provide consumers with a reliable experience every time. Aside from being the first Climate Neutral Certified cannabis brand, Wyld is dedicated to creating a greener planet and healthier communities with the help of our partners, like The Freshwater Trust. Our goal is to amplify our partners’ voices, bring awareness to their work, and inspire lasting change.

Wyld is committed to contributing towards a healthier planet by supporting environmental conservation efforts, renewable energy adoption, waste reduction, and by creating awareness of sustainable actions and initiatives.

Why is TFT’s mission of restoring and protecting freshwater ecosystems important to your business?

Restoring and protecting freshwater ecosystems is important to our business because access to freshwater is essential to the health and well-being of our communities – consumers, retailers, community partners, employees, and beyond. Whether it’s clean water for drinking or growing crops, healthy riparian habitat is essential to the removal of pollutants, erosion prevention, and serves as protection from flooding.

What is WYLD’s “Home River?”

While Wyld operates in multiple states, our headquarters is located in Oregon in the Rock Creek/Clackamas River watershed. The Clackamas River supplies drinking water to around 300,000 people in Clackamas County.

Can you tell us more about your work with environmental sustainability?

Wyld is committed to contributing towards a healthier planet by supporting environmental conservation efforts, renewable energy adoption, waste reduction, and by creating awareness of sustainable actions and initiatives. Some of the outcomes from our efforts so far have been: planting over 100,000 trees across North America through One Tree Planted and Friends of Trees, contributing to the removal of 150,000 pounds of debris such as plastic from beaches and ocean-bound waterways through Ocean Blue Project, planting 1,500 native species in the Oregon high desert through Oregon Natural Desert Association, and diverting over 3,000 pounds of organic waste from landfill in the first three months of our partnership with Compost Colorado.

Can you speak to any upcoming projects or collaborations that Wyld is working on? Where do you see Wyld in the coming years?

We are constantly pushing and innovating for what that means in the cannabis industry. In 2021, Wyld brands began introducing compostable packaging into the market starting with our Wyld Canada launch which brought fully compostable, child-resistant pouches to the Canadian market. In 2022, we introduced Good Tide in custom-designed, child-resistant, compostable, and recyclable tubes and Wyld One is packaged in fully compostable, child-resistant pouches. And now, in 2023, we’re in the process of making the biggest change yet—switching our plastic gummy containers to fully compostable Wyld drams. Our plans also include expanding our product lines within our three brands and launching in new states!
