“Learn to love complexity. Water touches everything, so you have to be fluent in many different disciplines,” offered Brett Walton, water reporter at Circle of Blue, when asked his advice for people interested in careers in water.
Walton would know. He is part of a team of journalists and researchers at Circle of Blue, a Michigan-based non-profit providing coverage, research and context on water trends from California to China. Its findings have been cited in Congressional testimony, and its influence is felt globally through its network of reporters and its founder’s participation in the Global Agenda Council on Water Security of the World Economic Forum. The Rockefeller Foundation has also noticed and applauded the work of Circle of Blue, especially its work in China.
