Freshwater Fund Associate Director
Courtenay is responsible for building The Freshwater Trust’s presence across the Bay Area and growing philanthropic revenue streams for The Freshwater Fund. She comes to the Trust with over a decade of development experience, including three years fundraising for conservation projects throughout the Hawaiian Islands. In addition, she has advised dozens of institutions across the United States and the nonprofit spectrum while serving as a consultant with CCS, LLC, a global leader in strategic fundraising. Prior to her work in philanthropy, Courtenay consulted with the United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations in Burundi, Catholic Relief Services in Guinea, and the Ministry of Health in Palau. She holds a Master of Science in Public Policy and Management from the Heinz College at Carnegie Mellon University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Vermont. She enjoys hiking, yoga, and any activities on or in the water – from surfing to SCUBA diving.
