Boatman Grove Fish & Wildlife Preserve

In 2011, The Freshwater Trust completed Phase II of the restoration of Boatman Grove Fish & Wildlife Preserve. By connecting Lowe Creek to its historical channel and removing an artificial levee and other impediments to the creek’s natural flow, the creek now connects with the Coquille River at its historical mouth. The project also included filling drainage ditches, placing large wood and planting native trees streamside. Phase I, the restoration of wetland function, was completed in 2007. The project provides winter habitat for juvenile coho salmon and other salmonids.
