- The headwaters of the Rogue River originate in Crater Lake National Park in the Southern Cascade Mountains.
- The Wild and Scenic Rogue River cuts through the Coast Range and enters the Pacific Ocean at Gold Beach.
- The dominant economies are orchards, irrigated agriculture and forestry. Historically, mining was also a large industry.
- Fisheries for Chinook salmon and steelhead in the Rogue are world-famous.
- The recent removal of three main stem dams allows fish free access for 157 miles of the Rogue River for the first time in almost 100 years.
