StreamBank
In recent years, The Freshwater Trust and others have grown increasingly concerned about the pace and scale of on-the-ground actions for restoring freshwater health. Human impacts have altered stream habitat and lowered water quality – creating a significant need to restore our freshwater ecosystems. And as pressures on freshwater from climate change and population growth continue to mount, it is our view that the current system for river and stream restoration is far too slow to achieve freshwater ecosystem health in a meaningful way.
StreamBank proposes an answer to the efficiency needs facing restoration work today. It changes the way restoration currently works. Developed by The Freshwater Trust, StreamBank is a unique and innovative web-based platform that enables landowners and restoration professionals to efficiently fund, permit and implement a restoration project. Permitting and funding have historically been the main bottlenecks that slow the pace and scale of restoration in Oregon, with projects often taking up 30 months or more to complete. With StreamBank, projects are completed in a matter of months, while maintaining the same or better project quality. When utilized at scale, StreamBank can have the power to transform entire watersheds and help address the freshwater challenges we face in Oregon.
